From Victims to Suspects: The Bizarre Turn of Events in the Fernandez Family’s CyberStalking Case

In the world of cyberstalking, it’s not uncommon for victims to know their perpetrator. It could be an ex-partner, a disgruntled employee, or even an obsessed friend. But for Tanya and Rick Fernandez, the situation was much more complex. For the past three years, they’ve been the victims of a cyber stalker who claims to be the husband of their daughter’s doctor, a man they’ve never even met. The messages started benignly but quickly turned sadistic and threatening. Despite their efforts to report the harassment and seek help from the authorities, the Fernandez family faced disbelief and suspicion.

In this podcast episode, we’ll explore the mysterious case of the Fernandez family’s cyber stalker and how a simple IP address couldn’t provide all the answers.

Disclaimer: The following article is based on true events but uses a pseudonym for the individuals involved. The names “Claudia Rodriguez” and “David Rodriguez” are fictional names used in the PRETEND podcast. Additionally, an update regarding the case has emerged since the initial reporting. Tanya and Rick Fernandez have been charged with harassment and computer tampering as a result of this series. Their trial is scheduled for September 5, 2023.

Tracking down cyberstalker

When Rick and Tanya Fernandez received a series of threatening messages from a person claiming to be the husband of their daughter’s doctor, they immediately contacted the authorities. They hoped that the police would be able to track down the perpetrator and bring them to justice. However, things took a turn when the police decided to do a stakeout in an effort to catch the stalker in the act. Suddenly, the stalking stopped.

Almost three months went by without a single message being received. Then, on January 9th of the following year, the detective knocked on Tanya Fernandez’s door with disturbing news. After obtaining subpoenas for Instagram and Cox Communications, the internet service provider, the police had traced the IP addresses associated with the harassing messages back to the Fernandez’s own home. Both Instagram and Cox Communications confirmed that the messages had been sent from the same IP address registered to Tanya Fernandez.

IP Masking

The Fernandez family was shocked and confused. They couldn’t understand how the messages could be coming from their own home, and they suspected that the stalker had hacked into their system to make it look like they were coming from inside their house. But was it even possible for a hacker to do this? While we don’t have all the technical details, it’s clear that this wasn’t a typical cyber stalking scenario. In most cases, the perpetrator is someone known to the victim. But in this case, the identity of the stalker remains a mystery.

Despite the confusion and uncertainty, the Rodriguez family refused to give up. They decided to take matters into their own hands and confront the alleged stalker themselves. However, things didn’t go as planned.

The story of Rick and Tanya Fernandez is a reminder that while IP addresses can provide some clues, they don’t always tell the whole story. We know the messages were coming from inside the house, but who was pressing send?

Cyber Stalker Claims to be the Doctor’s Husband: The Strange Story of Rick and Tanya Fernandez

Rick and Tanya Fernandez claim they’ve been the victims of a cyberstalker for the past three years. The person behind the messages claims to be the husband of Tanya’s daughter’s doctor, a man they’ve never even met. As bizarre as this situation sounds, it’s been a constant source of harassment and anxiety for the Fernandez family. In this podcast episode, we’ll delve into the strange story of Rick and Tanya Fernandez. Listen to their ongoing battle with a mysterious cyber stalker and the surprising twist that led to them being accused of stalking.

Cyberstalking started friendly

It all started when Rick and Tanya Fernandez received a message from someone claiming to be the husband of their daughter’s doctor, a man they’d never even met. The message contained a disturbing comment about their daughter, leading the Fernandez family to suspect that they were being watched. Despite their efforts to report the harassment and get help from the authorities, they were met with skepticism and disbelief.

Someone close to the family is behind the messages

As the situation escalated, Rick and Tanya Fernandez began to suspect that someone close to the doctor was behind the harassing messages. They even pointed the finger at the hospital’s security captain, who denied involvement and accused the Fernandez family of creating the fake messages themselves.

The victim is accused of being the stalker

Things took an even stranger turn when the authorities contacted the doctor, who was vacationing abroad at the time. She expressed concern that Tanya Fernandez had found her personal phone number and address on a public database and accused Tanya of stalking her. Suddenly, the Fernandez family went from being the victims of a stalker to being accused of stalking themselves.

The story of Rick and Tanya Fernandez is a cautionary tale about the dangers of cyberstalking and the importance of believing in and supporting victims. It’s also a reminder that the truth can be stranger than fiction, and that sometimes the person you least expect could be behind a campaign of harassment. If you or someone you know is a victim of stalking or harassment, it’s essential to seek help and support from trusted sources.

PrankNet

The punks at Pranknet are believed to be responsible for tens of thousands of dollars worth in damages. They would call restaurants making employees set off sprinklers systems and fire alarms. Sometimes they would even call hotel guests directly and convince them to shatter their hotel windows. All of these calls were recorded and posted on Youtube.

An ESPN reporter falls for a Pranknet hoax

Nobody is safe from PrankNet’s mayhem. Even Elizabeth Moreau, an ESPN reporter, was persuaded to swing a toilet seat across her Hilton Garden Inn window in the middle of the night. She thought there was a gas leak in the building. You can hear the desperation in her voice during the call.

Who is behind PrankNet?

The mastermind behind PrankNet is allegedly a Canadian man who goes by the name of Dex. Dex, who’s real name is Tariq Malik, is clearly proud of his work. However, when exposed by an internet blog, he vanished without a trace.

A prank caller confesses

I wanted to learn more about PrankNet and how they operate. The question is, could I get one of them to talk with me? Fortunately, Jeri Batsford, a former PrankNet member, deflected from the group.

She’s the only woman on the homicide squad, and a skilled chameleon: undercover cop in vice stings, crime-scene commander, patient confidante of killers. A master interrogator, she invokes her personal experience – and deepest griefs — as a tool to elicit confessions. When a young woman’s body is found at a trash-sorting plant, Trapp learns the murder may be linked to the disappearance of three other women in nearby Santa Ana. Trapp embarks on a dark journey that brings her face to face with a man who takes “a little piece of her soul.”

This is not your typical internet stalker story. Susan Fensten’s tale is one of torture, rape, bondage, cannibalism, and murder. It’s just plain cruel.

It all started when Susan began looking for distant family members on a genealogy site. While trying to fill the gaps of her family tree, she found herself tangled in a web of lies.

Her newfound cousin, Leonard Nachman, bombarded her with pornographic emails and picture of himself masturbating while wearing nylon bodysuits. It was disturbing.

But I don’t want to give away too much of the story. After you’re done listening to part one, get an early preview of part two on Patreon.

Also, check out Susan Fensten’s Memoir based on this story titled, “You have a very soft voice, Susan.”
