Patti Rush is a victim advocate in Arkansas for a long time before she met LaDonna Humphrey. She knew what kind of information families and civilians could get from the police. So when she met LaDonna Humphrey through their shared interest in the Melissa Witt murder case, she was shocked when LaDonna showed her the secret case files.

LaDonna claims she read Melissa Witt’s journal multiple times. She had seen the entire case file, which Patti knew because LaDonna would send her pictures of the files.

Then, LaDonna posted a graphic police video of Melissa’s body as a private link on YouTube as evidence to the internet.

LaDonna Humphrey allegedly torments Patti Rush to get a reaction. Before the video, Patti didn’t see a reason not to trust LaDonna. The Fort Smith Police Department acknowledges that they let her read the diary. The first time Patti knew of LaDonna taking something out of the case file to keep, it seemed like an accident. However, the video of the body shocked her. Patti became concerned. It didn’t make sense. Why would the police have let LaDonna post the video? How would she have gotten access to such sensitive evidence?

Patti reported the video. Then the harassment started. She started getting up to twenty texts a day—disgusting things, sexual things, threats. And it seemed like it might be LaDonna lashing out at Patti for revealing how she dealt with case information.
